25.5 x 38" One Sheet poster from Muhammad Ali v Floyd Patterson II at Madison Square Garden, New York City on Sept. 20, 1972. Patterson challenged Ali for his NABF Heavyweight title, but suffered defeat again, with the fight being stopped after seven rounds due to a badly cut eye. The bout turned out to be Patterson's last fight, although he never announced his retirement. The poster is in the classic Madison Square Garden design/colours and touts the event as "4 Great Fistic Champions in the Years Biggest Double Header." It has images of Ali, Patterson, Carlos Ortiz and a young Roberto Duran (who was replaced at late notice by Ken Buchanan). Ali is billed as "Former Heavyweight Champion of the World/Most Colorful Fighter Of All Time." Patterson is advertised as "Only Fighter To Hold Heavyweight Championship Twice." This is the super rare one-sheet version which is extremely hard to find; the 22 x 28 inch format posters are seen more often.
The poster is professionally mounted on Japanese paper and linen. It had several folds/tears prior to being mounted. A couple of areas (confined to the white outer border) have been retouched where there was small areas of paper loss.
