An extremely rare original boxing poster for The Dixie Kid's fight against Fred Drummond at the London Palladium on March 3rd 1914. The Dixie Kid, described on the poster as "the winner of over 300 contests", defeated Drummond by fifth round TKO. Top of the bill was Bombardier Billy Wells against Bandsman Jack Blake for the Heavyweight Championship of Great Britain (described as the English Championship on the poster). Wells knocked out Blake in round four, retaining his title in the process. The poster measures 30 x 20 inches and is preserved in very good condition. A small piece missing from the top left corner and surface paper loss in a few places to the rear of the poster; this is confined to the four corners and the edges of the central fold line is, and is likely from the poster been taped up somewhere prior to the fight. Several heavy fold lines. Original fight posters featuring The Dixie Kid are almost impossible to come by.
Note: the poster will be shipped folded.
