Muhammad Ali fought Dutchman Rudi Lubbers on October 20, 1973, at Gelora Senayan Main Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, in what was the first major international boxing match held in the country. Ali dominated the fight, winning a wide unanimous decision.

Offered here is the original Indonesian Boxing Commission Announcer's Card that was handed to the Ring Announcer with the official judges scores. This is the actual card used to read out the result in the ring after the fight. Judges Leon Johannes, Lim Kee Chan and Chris Schneider scored the fight 59-52, 60-45 & 60-47, all in favour of Ali. The winner is handwritten on the card in red felt tip pen, "MUH. ALI decision". Signed at the bottom by Reinier Manoch, who was secretary of the Indonesia Boxing Commission. He was heavily involved in the organisation of the fight, handling negotiations and public statements about the fight. In very good condition, with several creases. A rare and unique piece.

The announcer's card originates from the collection of former British boxing commentator, Reg Gutteridge, who was known as the Voice of Boxing. He was covering the Ali-Lubbers fight for ITV Sport and at the behest of Ali, conducted what is thought to be the only interview with a boxer during a televised fight, shoving his microphone between the ropes and grabbing a few words from Ali in between rounds. We also have Reg's ringside license/pass and handwritten fight notes available for purchase.
