Presented here is a fabulous one-off collectible for fans of the Harry Potter franchise; a baseball cap that's been hand decorated - with a recreation of the Golden Snitch - and signed by J. K. Rowling. In full the author wrote "(POORLY) DESIGNED + DECORATED by J K ROWLING". Rowling sent it to fellow author Susan Hill for use in a fundraising auction in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice. It comes with a handwritten note of authenticity on Susan Hill letterhead: "I personally guarantee that the cap was sent by me to J. K. Rowling who decorated it by hand with the Golden Snitch and signed it. She returned it to me to be auctioned in aid of the The Prince of Wales Hospice. Susan Hill". The cap is generally in VG-EX condition. There is modest yellowing in places. The signature and inscription have bled slightly into the peak of the cap.
Susan Hill CBE (born 5 February 1942) is an English author of fiction and non-fiction works. Her novels include The Woman in Black, The Mist in the Mirror and I'm the King of the Castle for which she received the Somerset Maugham Award in 1971. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2012 Birthday Honours for services to literature.
Joanne Rowling, OBE (born 31 July 1965), pen names J. K. Rowling and Robert Galbraith, is a British novelist, screenwriter and film producer best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. The books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold more than 400 million copies. They have become the best-selling book series in history and been the basis for a hit series of films.
About the Golden Snitch: The Golden Snitch, often called simply the Snitch, is the third and smallest ball used in Quidditch. It is a walnut-sized gold-coloured sphere with silver wings. It flies around the Quidditch field at high speeds, sometimes pausing and hovering in place. The Seeker's goal is to catch the Snitch before the other team's seeker, which is worth one-hundred and fifty points. The game can only end when the Snitch has been caught, or by mutual agreement of the two teams' Captains; the latter is very rare, however, as one team would have to lose.
