A paperback edition (published by Pocket Books Inc. in 1964) of Strength To Love, signed and inscribed "To Jan Filius, With Best Wishes, Martin Luther King Jr" on a front endpaper. An attractive, bold autograph penned in blue ballpoint. Age related toning and wear to the foot of the spine. Minor splitting at the ends of the autographed page. The book has an additional inscription in an unknown hand on the inner front board.
First published in 1963 as a collection of his sermon primarily on the topic of racial segregation in the USA and with a heavy emphasis on permanent religious values. The writings reflect his deep understanding for the need of agape, a love that is concerned with going the extra mile to ensure the well-being of others. King believed in a better world, but in order to attain his vision he argued we must first face our fears and then master these fears through courage, love, and faith.
