Damien Hirst "I Want to Spend the Rest of My Life Everywhere, with Everyone, One to One, Always, Forever, Now", published by Booth-Clibborn editions, London (1997). Signed by the author in black ink to the front end paper along with a shark drawing, also in Hirst's hand. Original dust jacket present. The large, hard back book weighs an impressive 3.5kg and includes multiple pop-ups, moving elements and transparent overlays. Good condition, having suffered moisture infringement in the past, which has caused a slight waviness to the pages and a few of them to stick together. A couple of the pop up displays are damaged. The front cover is loosely attached along the spine (see photo 5). The size of the double page spread featuring the autograph and sketch is approximately 22 x 13 inches.
Any sketch by Hirst is desirable, but one of shark has particular appeal; Arguably his most famous work, the 1991 piece entitled “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living”, featured a tiger shark preserved in formaldehyde. The Hirst shark is considered the iconic work of British art in the 1990s, and has become a symbol of Britart worldwide. There are several pages in the book dedicated to the “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living”.
