1990 Martina Navratilova match used tennis racket (Family Circle Cup Final)

This is the original Yonex tennis racket used by Martina Navratilova in the final of the 1990 Family Circle Cup Tennis Tournament. The racket originates from the The Judy Nelson Collection. Nelson was Navratilova's former romantic partner between 1983-1991. Navratilova met a 15 year old Jennifer Capriati in the final of the Family Circle Cup in Hilton Head, South Carolina. She made quick work out the young teenager, winning in straight sets.
In GD-VG condition. The blue grip (which has noticeable chipping) is signed by Navratilova with the additional inscription: "Happy Birthday Monte Love Martina Family Circle Hilton Head 1990 Finals - Martina vs. Capriati" in black marker. The signature and inscription have significantly faded since they were written.Two of the strings are broken. Included is an image of Navratilova and Capriati standing at the net before the match, and this very racket in the hands of Navratilova. The racket comes with a letter of provenance from the Judy Nelson collection and LOA's from PSA/DNA and JSA for the autograph & inscription.
