Autograph letter signed by Giuseppe Garibaldi, written on the 2nd March 1860 to Colonel John Chambers (British) discussing the implications for Poland of the lack of sympathy for their cause in England. The letter in full reads:
"Dear Chambers,
I regret that in England no one has sympathy for Poland because Bonaparte (Napoleon III) is not interested. But I think that in justice England should take up the Polish cause. I greatly hope on our (the Risorgimento) behalf for the freedom of Europe. Without this freedom justice is not possible. I kiss with affection the hand of your wife and thank you for your great kindness. I recommend that you contact the existing subsection for Poland.
Yours for life, G. Garibaldi"
The letter has been framed alongside a vintage portrait of the great Italian general and a second genuine autograph. Size of the frame is 14.25" x 22.75".
