An impressive 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of Clemens, boldly signed and inscribed to an area of light background: "Truly yours, Mark Twain, Oct [19]03." The studio image captures the author in full body profile with a river bank as the backdrop. In fine condition, with light toning to the edges and corners, and moderate silvering to the image. An uncommon image and a very appealing, boldly signed piece.
Samuel L. Clemens began as a newspaper reporter, first writing under the “Twain” pseudonym in 1863. His first novel, The Gilded Age, was published in 1873, followed by his greatest works—The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn—in 1876 and 1884, respectively.
