Desirable autograph letter signed, "Rossini", to Carlino; One page in Italian. Paris, 1830. Rossini asks his recipient to look among the letters brought back from Petit-Bourg for a ticket signed by Alexandre Aguado, 1st Marquis de la Marismas, for his box at the Grand Opéra, and to give it to the bearer. Good condition; wrinkles throughout and a couple of small edge tears, one of which has been carefully repaired.
The castle of Petit-Bourg, near Évry, belonged to the rich banker of Spanish origin Alexandre Aguado, 1st Marquis de Las Marismas (1784-1842); he often welcomed Rossini, who wrote his famous French language opera, William Tell, at the castle. The Marquis was a great music lover and patron of the Italian Opera, and also Dr. Louis Veron's sponsoring partner at the Opera.
