King Edward VII, Albert Edward. A Military appointment signed "Edward R & I" with wafer seal, dated 27 February 1900. Attractively framed alongside a black and white portrait of the King. This is an exceptionally early Edward VII; the document originates from Queen Victoria's reign and bears her name. It was initially filled out by hand and dated 27 February, 1900. It's signing was likely delayed from the date of issue because of Victoria's indisposition and death; Edward did not become King until her death on 22 January 1901. The appointment is also signed by Conservative politician, St. John Brodrick (later the 1st Earl of Midleton), who was Secretary of State for War from 1900-1903. 27 x 17.25 inches. Fine condition with expected wear to the frame. An interesting piece.
