Manuscript letter written in a third hand, appointing William Deverson as a bedesman at Canterbury Cathedral. Approved by Queen Victoria with a her large ink signature, "Victoria Rg', at the top of the first page. Addressed on verso "To Our trusty and well-beloved Dean and Chapter of Our Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Christ in Canterbury". A folded single sheet (four sides) measuring 33 x 40cm; with the Secretary of State Home Department embossed seal to the top left corner. Further folded for delivery with remains of blind embossed seal affixed to the back page. A large and attractive example of the Queens autograph.
