A paper concert poster advertising "THE GREAT AMERICAN RECORDING STARS - BUDDY HOLLY AND THE CRICKETS" performing at the Regal Theatre in Hull on March 19, 1958. The poster measures 16.5 x 11.75 inches and has been mounted onto a piece of thin card, which is slightly larger in size. In good condition, with a central fold line both ways. A rare Buddy Holly poster from his brief stint in the UK.
Buddy Holly and The Crickets flew into an unusually cold Britain, for whom Saturday the 1st of March marked the beginning of their 25 date UK tour. Having landed at Heathrow Airport two days previously the group were unprepared for the weather that met them. They had begun the week on tour in Florida, and the contrast could not have been more apparent; their stylish, but thin, leatherette jackets offered barely any protection from the elements. In front of them was a gruelling journey of over 1800 miles up and down the trunk roads of England and (briefly) Wales to play 55 shows, as well as three television appearances, and at least one radio spot.
